After the school books are packed away and the house grows still in the evenings. You find yourself standing in the hallway, in that awkward space between what was and what’s next, wondering who you are now.

This is the in-between.

You’re not who you were—the mom with a minivan full of kids and a calendar bursting at the seams. But you’re not quite who you’re becoming either. The woman who has something new to offer the world. A fresh calling. A different rhythm.

This space is tender. Sacred, even.

It feels uncertain. Lonely, sometimes. Like you’re living in a story that hasn’t been fully written yet.

But here’s what I’m learning in the in-between: God does some of His most transformative work in the quiet middle.

He doesn’t rush us through this space. He meets us here. He’s working on me.

He whispers identity over us when our old titles fade. He reminds us that we are more than the roles we held, more than the things we did, more than the energy we used to have.

God using my in-between to strip away the noise and reveal what’s been true all along: we are His.

We are becoming, even if we can’t yet name what we’re becoming.

I used to think purpose was tied to productivity. That being a good mom meant always doing. That worth looked like constant motion.

But now, I’m learning that becoming sometimes looks like resting. Listening. Waiting.

And in that waiting, I’m starting to see hints of who I might be next. I still have many days of not knowing but I’m discovering the deep joy of encouraging others, of writing from the heart, of sharing my messy story in the hope it helps someone feel less alone.

If you’re in this in-between space too, I want you to hear this:

You are not lost. You are being re-formed.

You are not falling behind. You are being gently led.

You don’t have to have the next season mapped out to be faithful in this one.

God is still writing your story, even in the slow chapters. Maybe especially there for me, I am here slowly watching, waiting, praying and staying.

So take a deep breath. Pull up a chair. Let yourself become.

Not rushed. Not pressured. Just deeply, slowly, beautifully becoming.

There’s a quiet ache that settles in after the noise fades.
